Make A Wish Trip to Orlando

Colleen's Make A Wish Trip was Sunday Christmas Eve through December 29, 2006. Give Kids the World (GKTW) was wonderful, and we thought we would be off site, but they had a villa for us at the last minute. WE HAD A GREAT TIME!

We did have a bonus in addition to the welcome basket when we arrived. There was half a bottle of rum in the folding bed, yet at orientation they described how they pull out everything and put all new for the new family, so probably a rush job for our accomidations. But rather the rum and staying at the village than the other hotel. Really, we thought that was funny, and Colleen has an immune system again so better us with unchanged linen on the folding bed then perhaps another child.

The village staff and volunteers treated us as if we were royalty and they were graced by our presence, but the theme park treatment varied. Disney was great, but Sea World wasn't. We never made it to Universal, but the tickets are good for another year.

Only two adults could be included in the trip, so Mike couldn't go "officially". He got into Disney free as an employee, so he was with us for most of the time anyhow. He did work three days, so we took him there and went to Disney those days, he worked his shifts and hooked up with us when his shift ended. His meals were $1 at the Gingerbread house at the "Give Kids The World Village", so he was really part of the wish, even though it was "unofficial".

We did many activities there at the GKTW village. Colleen and JJ saw Santa on Sunday evening which was Christmas Eve and again on Thursday. Barney visited, and so did Mickey and Minnie! We had the Bunny Tuck Thursday night for William, Colleen and Jillian, and that was so cute!

All in all what an incredible experience. Plus on check out they gave us a "passport" to theme parks all over the world that is good for admission for one year for our family of eight. We hope to do many of the family trips this summer for the free admissions. Definately to Cedar Point. We visit Florida more often than other places, so the life time invitation to return as a "welcome back family" and spend a day at the Village is exciting. What a treat!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
